So, I ate a waffle sandwich

48_teaStorySandwichOn Sunday I ate a waffle sandwich for the first time ever. Okay, half of one. I was visiting a good friend of mine who happens to live in Winnipeg, and for brunch she took me to this cute little café called Tea Story. They serve a variety of teas — loose leaf, herbal, bubble teas, tea lattes and fancy smoothies, but they also have a waffle menu. More specifically, a savoury, waffle sandwich menu.

I noticed there was a waffle dog, which pretty much looks the way it sounds (like a hotdog wrapped in a waffle) and beer special. If it wasn’t for the fact that we were there at 11 o’clock on a Sunday morning I might have considered trying it. And I don’t even like hotdogs.

We ended up sharing a Mexican style sandwich with chicken, avocado, cheddar cheese, lettuce, salsa and banana peppers. All between two fluffy, thankfully not too sweet waffles. It was interesting, to say the least. Not sure I would do the peppers with a waffle again, but it tasted quite good otherwise! We shared a regular waffle with strawberries, chocolate and whipped cream after to balance out the.. interesting..ness. Sadly they don’t offer sandwich options with their sweet menu items so I was a little disappointed I couldn’t fit another waffle in, haha. Probably a good thing.

48_teaStoryTeaI washed everything down with a white truffle tea latte. Deelish.

Would I do it again? Maybe. I might not go all the way back to Winnipeg to do it though. Would you? (Eat a waffle sandwhich, not go to Winnipeg).
